I’m delighted to see that Labour Minister Alan Kelly has put the money in place so 3,347 social housing units will be built in Dublin City by 2017. This should reduce the housing list by 21%.
With the current crisis going on, these houses are very welcome. Not only in getting people homes, but also all of the construction jobs that will be created.
The Labour group on Dublin City Council has always been committed to helping the homeless; even reversing the cuts proposed in 2014. That is why I am so happy to see that €292.2 million has been made available for Social Housing to be built by 2017.
This just goes to prove that when resources permit, Labour can deliver in Government.
